As our previous post showed, this past Monday’s town hall meeting held at Metro Baptist Church was packed with local residents, members of WSNA and other community groups, small business owners, and local elected officials to give a chance to air concerns, questions, and comments at representatives from Port Authority about the new bus terminal that is slated to be built in our neighborhood.
This piece from DNAinfo.com expands a little more about the meeting itself, and general discussion involving the Port Authority’s project, with Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer warning that, if the Port Authority doesn’t take the community’s concerns about the new bus terminal seriously, the project will face enumerable delays, including lawsuits.
Not only would residents be affected if eminent domain is used, but small businesses, community service organizations, and even Metro Baptist Church, where the meeting happened to have taken place, would be in danger of having their buildings seized as well. This is a good write up on DNAinfo.com’s part to spread the issue of the new bus terminal, it captures how the Hell’s Kitchen/West Side community is feeling about the topic.
