New York Magazine: “The Dumbest Person in Your Building Is Passing Out Keys to Your Front Door!”

Our campaign against illegal hotels, Share Better, is getting some major media attention—and Airbnb is taking notice.

Airbnb is trying to turn New York into one big hotel room, reducing the affordable housing stock and raising the cost of living for all New Yorkers.

Airbnb is trying to frame WSNA and Share Better as powerful “special interests,” even though their media-push budget dwarfs ours. Airbnb’s IPO valuation has reached as high as $10 billion, but apparently we’re the bullies.

New York magazine is one of the latest media outlets to cover our Share Better campaign. Read the story here, and follow Share Better on Twitter @Share_Better.

  1. Concerned Resident says:

Airbnb is a very late comer to the concept of pushing illegal rentals into neighborhoods. Homeaway inc. (AWAY) has been doing that for a long time and is still doing it through websites like VRBO.com, Homeaway.com, Vacationrentals.com which are all loaded with illegal rentals.
Airbnb just made themselves a target by bragging about it.

Here’s a link to the rentals in NYC available on VRBO.

    See any in your building?

Stopping Airbnb alone won’t stop the intrusion of tourism into our neighborhoods.
ALL of those websites have to be stopped from advertising illegal rentals.
