Last year many of you participated in a historic event—the election of WSNA’s first-ever Steering Committee! Since then, WSNA has more than doubled its membership and our intrepid elected leaders and campaign committees have been busy helping ensure our success as a smart, effective and dedicated community-based, grassroots organization.
Thirteen WSNA members are running for the Steering Committee next Tuesday. Click here to view their candidate statements.
Steering Committee members are elected to serve one-year terms. It’s just about time to hold our second elections. Elections will be held at our next all-membership meeting next Tuesday, June 3rd, for the six available generally-elected seats. In addition, our active campaigns will also be selecting representatives to the Steering Committee at their meetings within the next month.
The next steering committee will continue to shape WSNA as an organization, and make sure that we’re winning our campaigns for affordable housing and community-friendly development, addressing the most pressing West Side issues, and building our group into a powerful force in the neighborhood. The Steering Committee meets once a month and is open to anyone who has been a WSNA member for over 6 months.
WSNA has racked up impressive victories and built a solid reputation because of the energy and involvement of members like you. June 3rd is not only an opportunity to help elect our new Steering Committee. It’s also a time to get updates on our campaigns and our exciting plans for the future.
We hope to see you there on June 3rd!
