It’s that time of year to show WSNA members our appreciation for all of the hard work and dedication you have shown to keep the neighborhood vibrant and inclusive. Celebrate with us by attending our 5th annual WSNA Summer Potluck on Saturday August 13th at Ramon Aponte Park from 3:00pm-6:00pm. Like last year, we’ll provide the drinks, raffle prizes, entertainment and activities. All you have to bring your dancing shoes and your favorite dish to share with your neighbors!

Tenants protest for stronger rent laws

Over 2 million New Yorkers who live in rent-regulated housing could face dire consequences if New York’s rent laws aren’t renewed and strengthened. On May 3th, tenants and housing activists from all over New York on Tuesday took the trip to Albany to demand Governor Cuomo strengthens the rent laws.

Just one incorrect entry or poor rating on your credit history can have a large
impact on your daily life. Not only can poor credit limit your employment options, it can also limit your housing options. To help address poor credit scores and delinquent accounts, we are hosting a Free Credit Counseling
workshop for Chelsea and Clinton residents. Attendees will learn how to read their credit reports and got one-on one legal assistance/advice on how to clean it up.

Monday 4/11 and Wednesday 4/13: 11th Ave Rezoning – Planning meeting and Public Hearing

The zoning process is about to be sent back to the City Planning Commission (CPC) where they can approve or change the rezoning. We need to prepare ourselves to testify at a public hearing on Wednesday April 13, 2011 at 10:00 am, to make sure that the CPC follows CB4′s lead and includes our recommendations in the rezoning. This is arguably the most important stage of the rezoning process, and we need people to fill the room at the public hearing on April 13th, to show CPC how important this rezoning is to West Siders. Also, please join us on Monday April 11th at 6:30 to practice our testimonies one last time before we head the the CPC’s public hearing.

In January, we didn’t let the weather stop us from having a fun and productive all-membership meeting, and we want to build on that momentum for February. CB4 Formal Hearing on 11th Avenue Rezoning

This will be the last time the Community Board 4 votes on this proposal and it is incredibly important to fill the room and make sure that community members are being heard.

Also, please join us on Monday February 28 at 6:30pm, 500 West 52nd Street, #2E, to practice your testimony and to go over WSNA’s talking point.

11th Avenue Rezoning resolution certified by the City

Join WSNA to testify at the upcoming Clinton Land Use and Zoning (CLUZ) Committee meeting of Community Planning Board No. 4, which kick-off the formal ULURP (Urban Land Use Review Process) process on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 525 West 50th Street at 6:30 pm .. It is crucial to have a large community turn-out for this meeting particularly from tenants who live on or near 11th Avenue in the proposed rezoning area which is 43rd Street-55th Street along 11th Avenue.
