West Side Neighborhood Alliance

WSNA New Year’s Party!

January 14, 2008 · Leave a Comment

On January 16th, 100 WSNA members came together to celebrate our successes in ’07 and gear up for exciting work in 2008.

In 2007, the West Side Neighborhood Alliance:

  • Grew our grassroots organization to more than 500 members.
  • Led the fight against illegal hotels, winning a City Council hearing on Intro 534.
  • Brought 300 Spanish-speaking West Siders together for our Fiesta Comunitaria.
  • Mobilized West Siders for the largest tenants’ rights demonstration in NYC in a decade.
  • Collected hundreds of signatures for improved air quality and public transit.
  • Advocated for affordable housing, open space and reasonable density on the West Side Rail Yards.
  • Worked with Community Board 4 to launch a neighborhood-friendly rezoning of 11th Ave.
  • And more! It was quite a year and we hope you will join us in making change in ‘08!
